Sir Albert's New Mural by Adele Renault

Amsterdam’s Sir Albert got a gorgeous makeover thanks to artist Adele Renault! Using a four-story lift, Renault independently hand-painted a giant mural of a grey heron on the black facade of the hotel and brought a fresh look to the neighborhood.

Sir Albert, located in the vibrant De Pijp district, celebrates all members of the local community, even the feathered ones. Grey herons could be considered the neighborhood’s mascot. They’ve been spotted in the area for 20 years now, and they’re a regular figure at the nearby Albert Cuyp Market.

With her work, Belgian-born, Amsterdam-based artist Adele Renault seeks to showcase ordinary city residents in bold ways, usually depicting pigeons and people. She made a special exception for our grey heron to make something authentic to our neighborhood.

HOT OFF THE PRESS: Wallpaper* Magazine Features Our Newest Project

We’re very pleased to share that EHPC’s founder and owner, Liran Wizman, was profiled in Wallpaper*’s October 2018 issue with legendary architect Piero Lissoni.

Just a few days before EHPC’s monumental 17th-century property, Palazzo di Porta Romana, was set to close for a two-year renovation, Wizman walked Wallpaper* through the historic property and shared details about the careful restoration, saying “the idea is to feel like you’re in a palace again.”

In 2016, EHPC purchased the crumbling palazzo at auction and announced in 2017 that it would be developed into Ian Schrager’s first Italian EDITION hotel, with restaurants and public spaces by our food & beverage partners, THE ENTOURAGE GROUP, which is owned by Yossi Eliyahoo and Liran Wizman.  Italian architect Piero Lissoni will take the lead on guest rooms and social spaces, and EHPC’s longtime collaborators Baranowitz + Kronenberg will design the restaurants.

Austria Calling

We can’t divulge too much yet, but a little birdie told us that Max Brown is heading to Vienna’s coolest neighborhood, Neubau, aka the Seventh District. It’s an exciting new addition to the Max Brown family, which includes Berlin, Düsseldorf, Amsterdam’s Canal District, and Amsterdam’s Museum Square. More info from the little birdie coming soon…

In the meantime, get familiar with our new neighborhood, Neubau, aka the Seventh District, is Vienna’s artsy, burgeoning neighborhood adjacent to the city’s more traditional center, and it’s known for its wide array of eccentric storefronts.

Here are some of our favorite spots so far:

Burggasse 24
A cozy coffee shop and vintage boutique shop all in one space.

Mumok, aka the (Mu)seum (Mo)derner (K)unst (the Museum of Modern Art), exhibits over 10,000 modern works by some casual names like Warhol, Picasso, and Lichtenstein.

The luxury chocolate shop’s slogan is “extraordinary chocolates for extraordinary people,” and “extraordinary chocolates” is correct. They live up to the hype.

Our favorite stop for contemporary, minimalist interior design objects.

Uppers & Downers
A carefully curated store of quality vintage clothing.

Galerie Zeitloos
A funky, vintage furniture store that stocks designs from the 1940s to ’80s.

This Just In: Sir Hotel Opening in Barcelona

We are excited to announce that EHPC has acquired the management of Hotel Omm in Barcelona. The property, opened by the legendary Rosa María Esteva, co-founder of Grupo Tragaluz, will be transformed into a Sir Hotel in the beginning of 2019.

“Rosa created a truly iconic hotel and I am honored to be continuing her legacy, and taking it to the next stage. The Omm’s initial vision strongly resonates with the Sir Hotel’s ethos of connecting guests to the community, history and city. Rosa’s energy and passion will always be a driving force of this property and we aim to magnify this spirit through the lens of the Sir brand.”
— Liran Wizman

This will be our first hotel in Barcelona, and our second in Spain, after last summer’s opening of Sir Joan in Ibiza. The property will undergo a series of interior renovations, including the re-envisioning of the 91 rooms and suites, the roof terrace and pool, the gym and in-house spa. Together with THE ENTOURAGE GROUP we will develop new food & beverage concepts for the restaurant and bar.

This new acquisition marks the twelfth property in the growing EHPC portfolio and we couldn’t be more thrilled to embark on this new adventure in Barcelona.
